Thank you to everyone who supported me during this campaign! I am honored and full of appreciation for the 45,000 people who voted for me in this election. As someone who had no political background and trying to campaign through the pandemic, I learned so much about the issues families and students are having. Although I didn't win the election this year I believe that we made a difference and brought up the issues that need to be addressed both short and long term. I truly hope that the Board succeeds in helping to close the achievement gap, address teacher and employee pay and professional development, and creates new politics and procedures to eliminate harassment and bullying for the students, teachers, and all of the employees. No one should ever be the subject of this behavior but especially at school. I am so excited about our new Superintendent! I am confident he and the new board will make progress but I will be there at every meeting I can either virtually or on-site to make sure that promises are kept and that issues are resolved. I started running for the School Board seat because of the lawsuits and scandals that were occurring last year. I have zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, and not following policy and procedures. We need to ensure that we have people on the School Board that will not only guide the organization but be examples to our students, teachers and staff, and community on professionalism and accountability. I expect that we will all work toward these goals and I look forward to the continued success of Sarasota County Schools and the wonderful students, parents, teachers, and employees of the District.
